# CardVerificationSettings

A model the API reference uses in a request or a response. The operation pages link every field typed as this model here.

Per-merchant accept-list of AVS and CVV response codes. A flag set to `true`
means transactions returning that code are accepted; `false` means they are
rejected after the processor answers. Where the processor approved and placed a
hold, the gateway schedules a reversal to release that hold and records the
reversal outcome on the transaction's `PolicyRejection`; where the processor
declined on the rule itself, no hold was placed and nothing is reversed. US AVS
codes and every CVV code default to
`true`, so a brand-new merchant accepts every domestic response out of the
box. The eight international AVS codes (B, C, D, F, G, I, M, P) default to
`false`, so a freshly-onboarded merchant rejects international responses until
it explicitly opts in.
